The Egton Online Consult product is now assured against the NHS Message Exchange for Social Care and Health (MESH) interface. This results in Online Consult forms submitted from the organisation’s website will automatically be sent into the GP practice’s clinical system.
Currently, the MESH interface is available with the EMIS Web, Systmone and InPS clinical systems. The clinical system must be configured to connect to their MESH mailbox and collect any Online Consult forms. Therefore, there may be a slight delay in receiving the forms into the clinical system. With EMIS Web, this is every 10 minutes.
The MESH integration will be set up by the Egton Deployment & Implementation Team. The only information they will need is the practice’s MESH Mailbox address. Once this is configured, the Online Consult forms will no longer be sent to the practice’s defined mailbox and will pass straight into the practice’s clinical system.
How it works
Once the patient completes an Online Consult form via the practice’s website, they will be presented with a reference code and the form will be sent through the MESH interface. An audit in Online Triage provides the status of the Online Consult form.

Managing the Online Consult forms – EMIS Web
The Online Consult form will arrive in the ‘Document Management’ folder of the ‘Workflow Manager’ module in the EMIS Web clinical system. If the form has not automatically matched against a patient, it will be presented in the ‘Unmatched’ folder.
If unmatched, the Online Consult form must be matched to a patient record in the EMIS Web system. This is done by clicking the ‘Find Patient’ button on the menu bar.
Once matched to a patient record, the details of the form can be completed (i.e. the type and source). Depending on your practice’s process for managing Online Consult forms, it can be moved to either the coding task or filing task folders in the Workflow Manager.
Managing the Online Consult forms – Systmone
Once the patient completes an Online Consult form via the practice’s website, the form will be automatically sent into the ‘Workflow’ module of the TPP Systmone clinical system.
The form can be processed by the practice as per their normal procedures in the Systmone clinical system.
Managing the Online Consult forms – InPS
Once the patient completes an Online Consult form via the practice’s website, it will be sent directly into the ‘Mail Manager’ module of the InPS clinical system:
The form can be processed by the practice as per their normal procedures in the InPS clinical system.
